This mug should really say “Chocolate Junkie”, but I’ll take yoga, too.
This has come to be one of my favourite smoothies. It’s a good go-to for those times I’m not in the mood for a green or berry-based smoothie and just need a little snack (though it’s good for breakfast, too).
I use prunes instead of dates, because I find dates too sweet. Plus, prunes help empty out the ol’ pooper!
I’ve given the option of making your own hemp seed milk, or just blending in water + hemp seeds to save time and excess milk (if you don’t need any batch prepped).
RECIPE: Chocolate Junkie Smoothie
Time: 5 minutes (+ 3 minutes for hemp seed milk)
Taste: Rich & Chocolate-y (duh)
Action: Calming & Nourishing
1 1/4C homemade hemp seed milk (or 1 1/4c filtered water + 1T hemp seeds)
1 medium frozen banana
2 prunes (check for pits!)
1T raw cacao powder
1T collagen powder
1T flax seed oil (or hemp oil)
1t maca root powder
1t vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
2 dashes cinnamon
1/2-1T cacao nibs (for topping)
optional: pinch of pink Himalayan salt
Blend all ingredients (except cacao nibs) together in a high-speed blender until smooth (approximately 45 seconds - 1 minute). Option to add cacao nibs in last 5-10 seconds of blending for smaller chunks.
Pour over ice (if you like it chilly), top with cacao nibs and drink up!
